Hi, this is Sudarshan Birla, and welcome to my lab.

Everything I do ends up in here as an experiment & my life is all about doing things.

  • Product: AI-first product management across commerce, D2C and AI-driven systems. Hypotheses, A/B tests, and the numbers that moved. Open the Work Portfolio
  • Film: Shooting, editing, writing, acting. Birla Productions is where the films live: the ones made and the ones still on paper. Enter Birla Productions
  • Inception: Life is like gravity. You can't see it, but it turns everything around you. The third door out: an endless corridor of photographs that turns around you as you fall down it, inspired by the rotating corridor scene in Inception. Open the Inception door
  • Cricket: Still chasing the perfect cover drive.
  • Marathon: Long distance, one kilometre at a time. The IIT Bombay Half Marathon finisher's medal hangs on the utensil rail, next to the ladle.
  • Straw art: The slowest experiment in the lab, and the one that gets the most questions.
  • Community: Prints from the community events, pinned up on the left wall so they don't end up in a camera roll. See more on the BTS wall
  • Shooting: Point, frame, wait for the light.
  • Editing: Cut, trim, re-cut. Then cut it again on a fresh morning.
  • Writing: Scripts, notes and drafts. Writing is how the other experiments get planned.
  • Acting: Some days behind the camera, some days in front of it.
  • Coding: Weekend builds that actually ship. One of them, Meowmbai, went from a two-week build to 50,000+ users. Read the Meowmbai story Open meowmbai.fun Meowmbai on Instagram
  • Designing: Logos, layouts and interfaces, sketched before they're pushed to pixels.
  • Merch: A small run while the lab works out what else it makes.
  • Phones: Phones left lying on the island. An obsession, kept within reach.
  • Music: There's always something playing: Kanye, Fred again.., Taylor. Retro CDs and gig posters on the left wall.
  • Football: Ninety minutes, nothing else.
  • Next experiment: Simmering on the hob, lid on. Something new is always in the works.
